MIRI: Masuka Kastam emerged Veteran winners in Kampung Luak’s Malaysia Day takraw tournament (Sept 4-18) organised by Darul Istiqamah Mosque (Youth and Sports section).

Team Masuka Kastam took home the Ripin Lamat Trophy (sponsored by Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat), and cash prize of RM350, followed by Darul Ihsan (RM250) and next, Bekenu (RM150).

Team King Burger (RM350) from Kampung Luak emerged champion in the ‘Kampung Ku’ category and was awarded the Dato Sebastian Ting Trophy. Second and third place went to teams from Bakam, namely Kanoha Thunder B (RM250) and Kanoha Thunder A (Rm150).

For the Open category, champion was Kuala Baram A (RM500), with Darul Ihsan Palpa (RM350) behind and Senadin B (RM250), third. Team Kuala Baram A won the Ahmad Lai Trophy (sponsored by Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang).

All winners also received hampers sponsored by A Hong’s Grocer Jalan Luak Bay Miri. The tournament was officially launched last September 16 and was officiated by Ahmad Lai Bujang.

Ripin at the closing ceremony of the tournament urged for sports activituies to be held on a regular basis to foster closer sports ties among youths. Also present were Councillor Aries Leong (representing Sebastian Ting); A Hong’s Grocer director Yvonne Wong and community leader Abang Hamdan Abang Jas.
