LUBOK ANTU: A couple in a van were hurt in an accident with a lorry near Engkilili sub station on Friday night.

According to Lubok Antu District police chief DSP James Johnathan, the driver, Kumpang Badak, and his wife, Dina Buda, suffered injuries in the crash that happened at 7:30pm, while lorry driver Bihong Gani was unhurt.

“Kumpang, who was driving the van, and his wife were injured on the face and head,” he said.

He explained that the lorry driver was on his way from Engkilili to pick up sand from Lubok Tedong when he was rear-ended by the van at KM34 Sri Aman Road.

As a result, the van was badly damaged in the front, causing the driver and his wife to be stuck in the vehicle until the Fire and Rescue Department got them out.

Kumpang, who is the Tuai Rumah of Rumah Batu Bebini Baroh, and his wife were later taken to Sri Aman Hospital.

Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnnical Rayong Nyipa also helped the victims when he happened to pass by the scene.
