KUCHING: The classic folklore ‘Mawar Merah Mawar Putih’ will be seeing a modern twist next month in Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) award-winning IPTV (Internet Protocol television) service HyppTV’s latest drama series ‘Cinta FB’.
Directed by Rusdi Ramli and with Zara Zya and Hafizul Kamal as the leads, ‘Cinta FB’ will be coming onto the TV screen on Hypersensasi channel 116 on Oct 3.
“It’s ‘Mawar Merah, Mawar Putih’ with an element of comedy fused together with drama that I think the audience will thoroughly enjoy watching,” said celebrity Erwin Dawson at the launching of HyppCarnival at Plaza Merdeka here yesterday.
The new TV series tells the story of how the lead characters – Shah (Hafizul) and Emilda (Zara) – came to bond with each other after connecting through online. However, despite their obvious attraction to each other, they decided to remain anonymous and ended up sending their best friends to pretend to be them.
“I play the role of the best friend of the lead character, Syafik, who is the polar opposite of Shah. He is a playboy with the tendency to be very relaxed, mischievous and deceitful, but not to the point of being mean,” said Erwin.
Also present during the carnival was local actress Chacha Maembong who also plays the role of the best friend to the lead female character.
“I play the role of Syira, who is the best friend to Emilda. She is your typical girl who is very close with her best friend and would always listen to her every problem,” said Chacha of her character.
Through lies and deception intertwining the lead characters twisted in a comedy and drama, Chacha added that the story line depicts a youth love story in which she hopes the viewers can appreciate and enjoy.
Also present during the event was celebrity chef Fendi Dapur Bujang from cooking show ‘Dapur Bujang’ on HyppInspirasi channel 111 who is known for his fun and easy way of cooking.
With his easy, quick and fun style of cooking, Fendi noted that the number of viewers would spike up especially during fasting season as they prefer to prepare their meals quickly with budget-friendly ingredients.
“For my show, I will have a budget of RM10 for the ingredients for two recipes,” said Fendi.
“So far, I have done 150 episodes and produce 300 recipes from 2011 until now,” he said adding that viewers may also view his show online at YouTube.
According to him, they will be producing a new show in October, ‘Dapur Bujang Western’, where he will be cooking two western dishes on a RM20 budget.
Held from Sept 23-25 at Plaza Merdeka, this is HyppTV’s first HyppCarnival in Sarawak with Plaza Merdeka as its official venue partner and CatsFM as the official radio partner in Kuching.
With a massive selection of TV channels to choose from, HyppCarnival showcased HyppTV’s vast channel content for all types of audience, offered TM customers and the public exciting content themed activities as well as special appearances by local celebrities and kids’ characters.
During the carnival, visitors were offered activities such as interactive game from nine game booths and special appearances by celebrities such as Chacha and Erwin from the latest HyppTV drama series ‘Cinta FB’ together with celebrity cooking host Fendi Dapur Bujang from the show ‘Dapur Bujang’ on HyppInspirasi HD and Li Kim from Syfy HD’S ‘The Paranormal Zone’ series.
Aside from that, there were special appearances by ‘DreamWorks’ animation characters, Mr Bean from Boomerang HD and Dora the Explorer from ‘Nick Jr.’
In addition, HyppTV is offering its mobile app HyppTV Everywhere for the first time on Samsung’s Smart TV where customers can purchase selected Samsung Smart TV K5550 series from Sept 8 till Oct16 at Samsung Brand Shops nationwide.
Besides its latest sport channels; FOX Sports (HyppTV channel 706), FOS Sports 2 (HyppTV channel 707), FOX Sports 3 (HyppTV channel 708) and FOX Sports News (HyppTV channel 709), viewers can also enjoy exclusive local production ‘Cinta Tangkap Muat’ on HyppSensasi starring Johan As’ari and Mimi Lana which currently airs every Monday and Tuesday at 9pm as well as ‘Impian Lulu’ on Sept 30.
Kuching is the fourth location for HyppTV’s nationwide tour after it kicked off in Johor Bahru in April, Kota Kinabalu in May, and Penang in August.
