KUDAT: Two members of a family were killed and three others were injured when the Perodua Kancil car they were travelling in skidded near Kampung Suangpai, Tajau/Tiga Papan Road here on Friday.

District police chief Superintendent Douglas Nyeging Taong yesterday said the two victims of the accident which happened around 1.58pm, were identified as Rumpilin bte Dangansang, 49,  and her 17-year-old daughter, Ailfadilin Bidin, a Form Five student of SMK Abdul Rahim I here.

The 56-year-old car driver, who worked as a security guard at a primary school here, and his 14-year-old son only suffered minor injuries.

“A 13-year-old girl suffered severe injuries to her left eye,” he said.

Douglas said the family was on the way from Kudat town to their home at Kampung Marang Parang here.

“When they arrived at Kampung Suangpai, Tajau/Tiga Papan Road, the driver lost control of the car and skidded to the right shoulder of the road and fell upside down into a watery ditch.

“Two of the women died at the scene and three other victims were rushed to Kudat Hospital for treatment. The vehicle was wrecked in front,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
