MIRI: Bob Baru Langup, the chairman of Democratic Action Party (DAP) Senadin, said he would still be working hard to bring changes to Sarawak’s political arena despite losing in the last state election.

“I am still around, as long as our country has not changed for the better, and for the people, I will still support ‘ubah’ (change),” he said, adding that many people had been asking where he had been after the last state election.

Bob said he would always long for change, claiming that only change brought by the opposition could revive the value of the Malaysian ringgit in the exchange market.

He added that there was no

short–cut for change and the opposition would work hard for it.  He claimed that though Sarawak was rich in resources compared to Singapore, its people were still  poor.

“Therefore, the people must wake up and support the opposition in the next parliamentary election,” he urged.

Bob said these during a dinner to raise funds for DAP Miri’s campaign activities last Saturday.  Present at the dinner were Kota Sentosa assemblyman Chong Chien Jen, Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon, Miri MP Dr Teo Yu Kheng, DAP state secretary Alan Ling Sie Kiong, Lanang MP Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, DAP Socialist Youth Petra Jaya publicity officer Abdul Aziz Isa, Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming, Parti Amanah Negara Miri chairman Yeo Kian Leong and the organising chairman Ling Siew Ping.

During the dinner a donation box was passed from table to table. A total of RM5,534 was raised from the about 700 guests attending the event.
