KUANTAN: A man and his daughter were killed after being hit by a go-kart while witnessing the Educational Innovation of Motorsports and Automotive (EIMARACE) 2016 racing championship in Jalan Sukpa, Indera Mahkota here yesterday morning.
Pahang Public Order and Traffic Department chief Supt Mohd Noor Yusof Ali confirmed that the victims involved were Izwan Isa, 39, who was killed at the scene, while his daughter Nur Zulaikha, four, died while being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here.
Izwan’s son, Muhammad Izz Danial, seven, who was injured in the incident is still being treated at HTAA and is reported to be in stable condition.
Earlier, the media personnel at the hospital’s forensics unit were led to believe that he had also died.
In the 11.30am incident, Izwan, a factory supervisor in Gebeng, and his wife Siti Suhaiza Seman, 38, as well as their two children were understood to be standing close to the circuit, separated only by plastic safety barriers.
The victims failed to move out in time when the go-kart suddenly went out of control before skidding and hitting them. — Bernama
