KUCHING: After bagging two bronze medals in Sukma XVIII in July this year as the youngest competitor, Stephanie Ngu Cai Ern has set her sights on a golden double at the KPM Wushu championship in Penang from Nov 18-20.

The 12-year old primary six pupil of SK Kenyalang is targeting to capture gold in her pet events – qiangshu and jianshu – in Girls Group C.

Sarawak’s future star from Sibu will also compete in changquan and group events during her second appearance in the national Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) meet which was not held for two years.

“My target in the coming KPM meet is two gold medals and I am quite confident of achieving it,” said Stephanie continued in serious training after Sukma XVIII under MSNS elite coach Lau Hui Wei and Centre of Excellence coach Ling Ung Hee.

“At the KPM championship three years ago, I won a silver in Group C changquan and this time around I am looking for a better result,” said Stephanie, who is part of the 23-member Sarawak team managed by Tiong Yong Hee.

She took up wushu when she was in Primary One under Centre of Excellence Sibu coach Lam Chee Kiong.

Stephanie was transferred to Kuching in August last year to join the state wushu training programme for Sukma XVIII.
