Satpolair probes into drowning boy case

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin Water Police Unit (Satpolair) are investigating the death of an elementary school boy who allegedly drowned while bathing in the river, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“The victim allegedly drowned while bathing in the river with his friends by plunging,” said Banjarmasin police chief Kombes Pol Anjar Wicaksana Sik here on Saturday.

He said the case of the drowning boy was being investigated by Satpolair led AKP Untung Widodo Sst.

The incident occurred on Saturday (5/11) afternoon, at around 16:00 pm in Batang Kelayan river. The victim, Mohammed Rafi (10), grade 4 SDN Murung Raya 4, jumped into the river with three friends. Then the victim cried for help. He was drifted by the river.

Seeing the incident, several people immediately gave relief. After successfully rescued, the victim was rushed to a Ulin General Hospital’s emergency room by his parents.

On arrival at the emergency room, the victim wasconvienced dtill alived and immediate given medical action. But not for some time, the victim, a resident of Kelayan A Gang Rahmat, Murung Raya Urban Village RT7, died.

“At the request of the family, the body was immediately taken home for burial,” said the police chief.

The results of the examination in the entire body of the victim was no wound found or trace of violence, said Anjar Wicaksana.
