KOTA KINABALU: Imitation guns and a pistol have landed a contractor in trouble when he was arrested by police here on Wednesday.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the 37-year-old suspect was detained by police from the commercial crime investigation department at his home at Suritz Condominium Jalan Taman Nelly, Nountun Inanam around 7.10pm on November 9.

“Police initially raided the suspect’s home pertaining to a fraud case and found an imitation Glock pistol, two imitation firearms, a camouflage bulletproof vest, military clothing and 480 pieces of plastic pallets,” he said yesterday.

The suspect has been detained for investigation under Section 36 (1) of the Firearms Act 1960 for possessing imitation weapons without any licence, which carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM5,000 or both upon conviction.

Chandra reminded the public not to keep any imitation weapons as police would not hesitate to take legal action.
