Curtin DPVC Cup draws 92 keglers from Sarawak, Brunei

MIRI: The fifth bowling annual for the Curtin University Sarawak DPVC Cup was held recently, with a hearty response from 92 bowlers from Sarawak and Brunei, at the Megalanes East Bowling Centre.

Curtin Sarawak’s Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (DPVC) Professor Beena Giridharan, when officiating at the competition organised by the Curtin Bowling Club, reminded students to maintain a healthy body and mind.

“We must find time for healthy activities such as bowling. It is a sport that is not particularly strenuous and is lots of fun,” she said.

The morning team session was won by Jass comprising Jeffery Lee, Abdur Rahim, Syafiq Shebli and Sakti Satesh. Second was Curtin Challengers and Team #Cincailah, third. The top three teams walked away with cash prizes, trophies and hampers.

Medals were awarded to fourth and fifth placed teams, while the sixth to 10th teams received Megalanes East bowling vouchers.

Dr MV Prasanna was named Best Male Bowler, followed by Sakti Satesh and Jared Hon, third. Best Female Bowler was Illiya Amalina, followed by second-placed Delicia Daviana and Eleanor Faith Dan.

Each winner in the individual categories won a trophy and cash, while the runners-up received KTunes vouchers.

The afternoon team session saw No Regrets! consisting of Hydrick Stephenson, Mohamad Khairudin, Lau Lee See and Kana Lawai emerging as champion. Team Frenz was second and Go Fighter V3, third.

Best Male Bowler was Andy Jana, followed by Nasrul Abdullah and Edward Juit, third. Best Female Bowler was Fatimah Haji Ayup, followed by Lau Lee See and Salawaty Sahar next. The fourth placed winners were awarded Megalanes East vouchers.
