KUCHING: Three suspects, including two siblings, were arrested by police yesterday morning in connection with recent house breaking and theft cases in the city.

The arrests were made at 7.30am after a CID team from district police headquarters, led by ASP Austin Patrick Angkon, raided a house at Foochow Road after a tip-off on the presence of the suspects.

All three suspects fled the house upon realising the arrival of the police but were apprehended after a brief pursuit by the arresting party that searched the premises and recovered a host of stolen items.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the suspects, a 46-year-old from Kenyalang Park as well as the 16 and 31-year-old brothers from Foochow Road had criminal records of similar

offences.

“The two elder suspects tested positive for drugs while the teenager tested negative. All three have been detained pending further investigation,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Abang Ahmad revealed that the items recovered from the house included power tools such as grinders, drills and sanders, as well as a computer monitor and a ‘kwangtao’ sword.

“The items are all believed to be stolen property as the suspects were unable to produce any receipts or documents to show proof of ownership.”

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
