KUALA LUMPUR: Stern action will be taken against members of the public who obstructed civil servants, especially women,  from discharging their duties, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar yesterday.

He advised the public against bullying women enforcement personnel as action would be taken against anyone doing so.

He was commenting an incident where two individuals were caught on camera, which went viral on the social media since yesterday, obstructing two female enforcement personnel of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) from discharging their duties in Bukit Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh.

“The action clearly shows (them)  obstructing  civil servants from carrying out  their duties, and  also contains element of sexual assault,” he added.

In a related development, Sungai  Buloh district  police chief  Supt  Dr  Abdul   Aziz  Awang Darus said police had received a report on the incident.

“Both the suspects were detained yesterday and taken to the Sungai Buloh police headquarters for further action.

Abdul Aziz Awang said the suspects were brought to the court yesterday and charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to deter the public servants from discharging their duties. — Bernama
