MIRI: Around 40 witnesses are expected to be called to testify against Mohamad Fitri Pauzi who is charged together with two others with the murder of social activist and PKR member Bill Kayong.
In the case heard in Miri High Court, Mohd Fitri is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code while Chin Wui Chung and Lie Chang Loon charged under Section 109, read together with Section 302 of the same code.
Mohd Fitri, 29, was charged for the murder of Bill who was shot dead at a traffic intersection near E-mart in Tudan around 8.20am on June 21. Section 302 of the Penal Code provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Lie, also 29, was charged with abetment (abetting Mohd Fitri) – an offence punishable under Section 109 read together with Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Chin, 50, is charged under Section 109 read together with Section 302 of the Penal Code. During the Pretrial Case Management yesterday, Judicial Commissioner Dr Alwi Abdul Wahab fixed the case to be heard in January next year.
