KAPIT: SK Methodist Kapit presented awards to its 12 Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) high achievers on Wednesday.

They were Peter Mason (6A’s); Vanessa Mias, Rizq Harris Hakimi, Assphadilla Andersie and Elyanna Mychella (5A’s, 1B); Flassya Kuja and Mary Elaine (4A’s, 2Bs); Alyssaa Stacy (4A’s, 1B, 1C); as well as Ehielyanna Ummie, Hillary Scott, Petrus and Valane Menun (3A’s, 3Bs).

“A sound foundation in primary school education is important because later when they continue secondary education, it would be easier for them because they have the basics,” said headmaster Demang Sawing.

“To obtain good results in school, one must study seriously. There’s no gain without pain. Don’t hope for luck. Success is the result of hard work and determination to achieve the objective of going to school.”

A total of 110 pupils at the school sat for the UPSR this year and achieved a school grade point average of 3.14 per cent.

Next year, 117 pupils from the school will sit for UPSR.

Philip Keling officiated at the prize-giving on behalf of the Kapit education officer Ringgit @ Gawan Saut.
