Seven Indonesians arrested during Ops Bersepadu in Long Lama

MARUDI: Seven Indonesians including a woman were detained during a joint operation by the police and Immigration Department at Long Lama early Saturday.

The ‘Ops Bersepadu’ – led by ASP Mike Ibrahim – comprised 26 personnel from Marudi and Miri police stations, three members of the General Operations Force (GOF) from the 12th Battalion in Miri, and five officers from the Immigration Department.

They conducted a check on the workers’ quarters at Ladang Pelita Melor Sdn Bhd in Long Lama around 2am, where they rounded up 43 Indonesians – 18 of whom were women.

Of the total, six men and a woman were found to not have any valid identification document.

They were detained under Section 6(1) of Immigration Act 1959/63, and the case had been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.

Marudi police chief DSP Gabriel Risut confirmed the arrests.
