KUCHING: The Department of Skills Development Sarawak created a new entry for the Malaysia Book of Records yesterday with 2,205 people having their faces painted like cats versus the previous record of 1,250.

A total of 215 make-up artists took some three hours to achieve the record-breaking feat.

Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Datuk Fatimah Abdullah congratulated the department director and staff for successfully holding the programme together with her ministry.

“Congratulations also to the participants who came and took part in the Malaysia Book of Records – largest participation in a face painting event,” she said.

Fatimah said the department’s main objective of holding the event was to promote its roles and responsibilities in technical education and vocational training.

Among those present were Women and Family Department director Noriah Ahmad, Department of Skills Development Sarawak senior assistant director Nicholas Bali and Malaysia Book of Records Sdn Bhd senior research journalist Nurasyikin Ramli.
