KUCHING: Dogan Food Court at Jalan Batu Kawah reopened its doors for business with a traditional Chinese lion dance yesterday.

The grand opening was officiated at by Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman.

Also present were family and invited guests of the new management and regular customers who used to patronise the food court before it closed down.

“We hoped to make the place lively again as the single-storey food court did close a while ago,” said the new manager of the food court Truman Yiin.

“I am sure the previous patrons will enjoy their meals here again like before and we will continue to serve them the best we know how,” he added.

Yiin disclosed that the food court had 110 tables and 22 stalls. Business hours are from 6.30am until late evening.

He added that they had a wide variety of food to choose from ranging from local cuisines to western fare.

“There are local dishes, laksa, kolo mee, savoury noodles and other meat and vegetable dishes, pizza, western dishes and varieties of soft drinks to go with the meals,” he said.

Yiin hoped that the food court will also pull in the weekend crowd and plans to show English Premier League matches and other sporting events on a big screen which will be installed there.

‘With 25 staff, we hope to make Dogan Food Court a place for the public to come and enjoy their food and drinks, besides becoming a prominent food landmark in the area,” he said.
