KUCHING: Sea Dragon Swimming Club of Kota Kinabalu are looking forward to an eventful outing in the Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai Inter-Club Swimming Championship at the Sarawak Aquatics Centre in Petra Jaya from Dec 3-4.

Their challenge in the 14-team competition jointly hosted by Kuching Amateur Swimming Association and Kota Samarahan Amateur SA is shouldered by 31 swimmers including 13 girls, coached by Johnny Wong.

“We are not setting any medal target for our swimmers because we want them to have fun and enjoy themselves to gain valuable exposure. They may be the champions in Sabah but out here, the competition is different and I believe they have a lot to learn from their counterparts from Selangor, Brunei and Sarawak,” said team manager Ivan Chu.

As first-time team manager of Sea Dragon to this prestigious inter-club meet, Chu is hoping that all his swimmers can win medals. According to him, some of the swimmers had represented Sabah in the MSSM Swimming Championships and National Age Group Swimming Championships.

They participated in a swimming competition organised by Persatuan Renang Penampang last September.
