KUCHING: The Sarawak team got off to a encouraging start in 29th Milo-Malaysia Hopes Table Tennis Championships at Chung Hua High School in Seremban that commenced on Thursday and will end on Sunday.

The boys captured bronze medals in the U10 team and U13 team events while the girls also bagged the U10 team bronze.

Sarawak have also booked the final berth in the Girls U13 team event to take on Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

“We are quite happy so far as our players made it to the semi-finals in three categories and the final in the Girls U13 team,” said coach Yip Pau Cheng.

“The standard of West Malaysian teams have improved a lot as they have coaches from foreigh countries like China

and the players have more experience than our players,” she said.

According to Yip, it was easier for players in the Peninsula to have friendly matches with each other to gain playing and competition experience.

The singles and doubles matches are ongoing.
