The body of the victim who died on the Tanjung Aru flyover.
KOTA KINABALU: A nurse was killed while her husband suffered a broken arm after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into the back of a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck on the Tanjung Aru flyover here on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Nur Amani Chin, 29, died on the spot while her husband was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH 1).
The couple were believed to be heading to Putatan from the state capital when the accident occurred around 6.30pm.
The man broke his left arm while the woman sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the man was reported to be in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of QEH 1 while the woman’s body was taken to the same hospital for a post-mortem.
Police have detained the 43-year-old driver and urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist in their investigation.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
