Umno leaders urged to hand over BR1M by themselves

Umno leaders have been urged to hand over by themselves the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) to recipients as it is among the best methods to approach the people in their respective constituencies.

A delegate from the Sabah Umno, Datuk Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif said the BR1M payment which was credited directly to the account of the recipients would not be able to improve the party’s image among the society.

“Do not give BR1M through the machine (the automated teller machine), machines do not have feelings, let Umno leaders hand them over by hand…this is our effort that will show we are close to the people.

“This is how we should go to the ground before, during and after elections just like how the president (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) wants,” he said when debating the presidential policy speech at the 2016 Umno General Assembly, here yesterday.

The Kimanis Umno Division deputy chief said, the existence of Umno in Sabah for the past 25 years was not aimed at colonising but to unite the people and develop the state. — Bernama
