KOTA SAMARAHAN: Today will be the last day to catch the Aiman Street Mall Christmas Bazaar featuring 30 stalls from seven churches under the Association of Churches Sarawak (ACS).

Officiating at the symbolic lighting-up of the Christmas Bazaar, where shoppers can find a variety of homemade delicacies, jungle produce and handicrafts, on Friday night was Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Dato Peter Minos.

“Christmas is a celebration that is unique to Sarawak because it is not only celebrated by Christians but also non-Christians,” said Minos in his opening address.

He said Christmas is where laughter and joy should be on the main menu during gatherings among friends and families.

On another note, he thanked ACS Samarahan branch for the bazaar which provides locals

the opportunity to sell their products as well as strengthen unity among Christian communities in the area.

He thanked Aiman Mall for their generosity in providing an avenue for ACS Samarahan to hold their inaugural bazaar.

“The Aiman Square is expected to be fully completed by April 2017. This place will definitely be the landmark of Kota Samarahan,” said Minos.

ACS member Rev Harold Hold, representing ACS Samarahan chairman Rev Dennis Gimang, said the 3-day bazaar is held from Dec 2 to 4, 2pm to 11pm.

Other activities include Christmas carolling, children’s colouring competition, Zumba sessions and music performances.

Meanwhile, in a press release on Nov 30, ACS said they would be organising a joint Christmas service on Dec 10 at St Francis Church at Jalan Dato Mohd Musa, Samarahan followed by a dinner at the parish hall.
