KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the rakyat must not be fooled or believe in the opposition’s politics of illusion.

He reminded the rakyat to not believe in negative propaganda from the opposition because believing in such propaganda would lead to disappointment.

“The opposition’s job is to instigate. Yesterday I showed a video of YB Rafizi (Ramli) saying that is the job of the opposition. It was on video. The opposition’s job is to instigate and incite.

“And how do you answer to that? The opposition knows if you cannot convince people, let’s confuse them, this is what they do on any issue, they try to confuse you,” he said when opening the 63rd myPPP annual general assembly at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, yesterday.

Also present were myPPP president Tan Sri M Kayveas, Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, myPPP senior vice-president Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D’Cruz and vice-president Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan.

Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said the opposition needed to present their plan if they did not agree with the current BN-led government.

“What we need to ask the opposition, if you do not agree with us, present your plan to us … they do not even have a proper plan. They cannot even decide who should be Prime Minister … they are dysfunctional, they do not trust each other, they do not even like each other,” he said.

Najib also defended his decision to bring in RM143 billion worth of investment from China as to guarantee the country’s future, and not because he wanted to sell the country’s sovereignty as claimed by certain people.

“What is the difference between investment from China, from Japan, from America, what is the difference? There is no difference.

“I hope if I go to India, I will bring investment from there as well. That is the intention, we must bring in investment,” he said.

On politics, Najib said the BN government had been running the country based on experience, principle and morality, including component parties like myPPP which had stayed together with BN through thick and thin.

“I also know about Machiavellian politics that the ends justify the means…but that is the political saying, we cannot run this country based on Machiavellian politics,” he said.

Earlier, Kayveas in his speech, said true leaders must learn to filter out propaganda so that the rakyat support those who were truthful and reject those untruthful ones.

“Propaganda, when excessive, will become slander. When the political ground is a field of slander, democracy will be destroyed and slanders can destroy the minds of the rakyat so that they cannot be at peace with each other,” he said.

He said let the 14th general election be the ground for the people to evaluate and choose the government that really looks after their welfare.

Earlier, he said so far his party had managed to produce 1,725 social transformation programmes, including #myEnglish for Youth, #myEnvironment for Putera, #myHomeSafety for Puteri and #myWill. — Bernama
