KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah yesterday attended a luncheon with about 200 media practitioners at Istana Negara.

The luncheon was held to strengthen the relationship between the palace and media practitioners and also in appreciation of the media’s role in establishing close links between the institution of the monarchy and the people.

It was also held in conjunction with the conclusion of the five-year reign of Tuanku Abdul Halim as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Dec 12.

The media practitioners were led by the secretary-general of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad.

Tuanku Abdul Halim, who is the Sultan of Kedah, concludes his term as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Dec 12 and will be succeeded by the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V.

Tuanku Abdul Halim created history for having reigned as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong twice, first from 1970 to 1975 and then from 2011 to 2016. — Bernama
