KUCHING: The Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) are organising a sports camp for football from Dec 13-16 and hockey from Dec 19-22.
SSC said the objectives of this holiday camp are to increase the utilisation of sports facilities, enhance interest of students towards healthy activities and enhance teamwork with external partners in efforts to achieve the government’s goal for One Student One Sport programme.
For the football camp which is open to children aged between nine and 14, it is limited to 100 participants and the entry fee is RM250 per person and is inclusive of meals, training kits, full coaching programme and certificate.
The four-day coaching programme to be conducted at Padang C and D, Sarawak Stadium Complex includes two sessions daily from 8am to 11:30am and 2:30pm to 5pm as well as indoor activities.
The programme seeks to enhance leadership skills, discipline in the game, positive self-esteem, social interaction and teamwork skills, and developing thinking and emotional skills. Talented participants may advance to Level 2 training programme.
As for the hockey camp at Hockey Stadium, Petra Jaya, it is limited to 40 participants and the entry fee is RM250 per person inclusive of meals, training kits, full training programme and certificates.
It is open to boys and girls aged 10-12 years old and boys and girls aged 13-14 years old.
Skills to be taught are coordination, dribbling, receiving, tackling, goalkeeping, hitting, passing and so on. The training sessions are from 8am to 10:30am and from 2pm to 4:30pm.
