SIBU: It is illegal for the public to display the police crest, said Sibu police chief ACP Saiful Bahri.

He told the media yesterday that the police have never issued the crest to any member of the public, adding it was an offence to display it on cars or in any public place.

Saiful called on the public not to be fooled into believing they could buy the crest for display or collection.

“We have reminded the public repeatedly against such a practice. It is also wrong to sell them. Such display can be abused by criminals. We are on the alert,” he said in response to the crest being sold online.

He added the police have never authorised the public to sell the crests.
