IPOH: A babysitter pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court, here, yesterday to abusing an 11-month-old baby under her care last month.

Nor Aini Man, 48, is alleged to have neglected the baby girl, resulting in the child suffering an injury on the back of her head at a premises in Taman Samudera, Sitiawan on Nov 26 between 9am and 6.30pm.

She is charged under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001 which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine not exceeding RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.

Earlier, when pleading for a lesser bail, the housewife said her husband was just a security guard with a salary of RM900 per month.

Judge S. Indra Nehru fixed Dec 21 for case mention and allowed Nor Aini bail of RM15,000 in one surety.

The accused was unrepresented while deputy public prosecutor Nor Hamizah Ghazali appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
