LIMBANG: A foreign cook was found sprawled in a pool of blood from wounds believed to be inflicted with sharp object on the awning of the second floor of a building at the town centre here.

The victim clad in jeans and t-shirt was found by members of the public at about 6am.

It was believed that the man had jumped from the balcony in trying to escape from his attacker.

Limbang District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the victim had two stab wounds, one each on both sides of the chest.

“The victim who was injured by a person known to him, had tried to escape by jumping from the building.

“The police with the help of Bomba (Fire and Rescue department) personnel at the scene managed to bring  him down,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Mohd Bukhori added as of yesterday afternoon, the victim was still unconscious and had been sent to  Miri Hospital for further treatment.

He said police had yet to ascertain the motive of the attack and called on witnesses to assist in the investigation.

Meanwhile, head of the Limbang Station of the Fire and Rescue department, Tawang Lingem said eight of his men rushed to the scene after being informed of the incident at 6.56am.

“Upon reaching the scene, police managed to prevent the attacker from further injuring the victim. “Our personnel then assisted in bringing down the victim from the awning and later sent him to hospital ,” he said.
