MIRI: A 36-year-old salesman was made RM1,000 poorer when he lost his wallet to a pickpocket yesterday.

He believes the pickpocket struck after he had withdrawn the cash from a bank in town.

When met outside the Miri central police station after lodging his police report, the man said he only realised what had happened when he reached home around 9am.

“I had gone to the bank earlier this morning and after withdrawing the money, I put the wallet in my pocket.

“When I reached home, I realised that my wallet had gone missing and that my pocket was torn, which looked like it had been torn using a sharp object,” he said.

The wallet also contained the victim’s credit card and other important documents.
