MIRI: A three-year-old boy was brought down safely from a six-foot high tree after he was thrown out of the back window of a car which earlier on skidded off the road and overturned by the roadside yesterday morning.

The car, which was driven by the boy’s mother, was said to be out of control moments after they crossed the Asean Bridge at Kuala Baram-Sungai Tujuh road.

The boy was travelling with his mother and five siblings to Miri from Brunei when the accident reportedly happened around 9.15am, about 24 km from here. Fortunately, all victims escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Kuala Belait hospital by their relatives. The car landed on its roof. A mobile police vehicle (MPV) and traffic police personnel were immediately summoned to the scene and helped the victims out of the car. The actual cause of the accident has yet to be determined as investigation is still underway.

According to the boy’s mother, who wished not to be named, they were planning to go to Miri for a day trip as it was school holiday.

“Unfortunately, this accident happened, but I am glad that all of my children were not injured in the accident, praise Allah,” she said.
