KUCHING: A delegation of 14 officers from Kuala Langat District Council, led by their director of management services division Miskon Karim paid a visit to Stutong Community Market here.

According to a press release, the purpose of their study visit to the market was to learn about the management of the market which is under the jurisdiction of Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

The delegate was briefed by MBKS officers on the market’s management and after the briefing, the delegates were accompanied by Mayor Datuk James Chan to visit the various stalls at the market.

During the tour, the delegates were impressed with how well the market was managed as well as the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the stalls.

According to Miskon, they had picked up a lot of new ideas about market management, including the setting up of a Market and Hawker Liaison Committee and the quarterly balloting for stall rotation.

The delegates also gave their thumbs-up to the drainage system and the colourful landscaping in the areas they visited earlier in the city.

Chan was happy that the delegates had included Stutong Community Market as part of their study tour and said both of the councils had an insightful and fruitful interaction.
