17 teams taking part in Limbang league

LIMBANG: A total of 17 soccer teams in Limbang have confirmed their participation in the Limbang League which is scheduled to kick off on Dec 18.

Limbang Football Association (LFA) Deputy President, Alidin @ Brahim Tawar is optimistic that with many new players, the league could see further improvement in the standard of the competition.

He also hoped that the league which would end in May next year would be held smoothly.

“At the same time we hoped to scout many new talented players for the Sarawak Football Association to choose from to represent the state,” he said when contacted yesterday after chairing the meeting to cast lots for the Limbang League 2016/2017.

Also present were LFA Vice President Bulhaji Wahab, LFA Treasurer Frederick Lalung and other exco members of LFA.

Alidin added football had developed tremendously since 2010 in Limbang which currently has six leagues –  Super League, Premier League, FA League, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan Trophy, Veteran Cup and Junior League, which started this year.

Meanwhile seven teams – Pasukan ABC, Tiger Fc, Highlander, LBA, Bidang Fc, Ransing, Pusaka and ACJ Fc will compete in the Super league while 10 teams from Limbang and Lawas will join the Premier League. Among the teams were PSKPP, KSR ABC, Awat-Awat Fc, Bidang Dua, BZ 7 Fc.

Alidin urged fans in and around Limbang to come and support the matches saying admission is free.
