SIBU: The 1Malaysia Trade and Food Fair Festival 2016 currently being held at Sibu Town Square Phase II here is a hit among locals inspite of the prevailing inclement weather.

The annual event began on Dec 9, 2016 and will end on Jan 1, 2017.

It is organised by the Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) and supported by the Sibu Municipal Council.

The Trade Fair section has 60 business booths while at the Food Fair section, there are 150 stalls parading a variety of mouth-watering food ranging from the traditional Chinese delicacies to the Malay food and even the ‘Real German Sausages’.

The festival-like occasion is attracting people from the various races and cultural background to mingle together to patronise the fair and sample the varied delicacies on offer.

The event is an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Gabungan Persatuan Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil Malaysia.

The event is proving to be a tremendous hit among the people not only from Sibu but also from the central region and afar.

Besides, the Food Fair also coincided with the year-end school holiday which is an additional factor that help attract a bigger crowd to the festival.

Here, at the 1Malaysia Trade and Food Fair Festival 2016,  there are also lots of entertainment outlets for the children to spend quality time.

There are also nightly stage performances by local artistes to entertain visitors.
