SEMPORNA: The allegation of state money flowing to other states made by former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is not true, said Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban.
Ramlee said the allegation was made without any proof and was therefore a reckless assumption.
“Where is the logic of the state money being distributed to other states? The state revenue has been allocated to the things that have been planned and discussed in the state budget.
“If there is money distributed to other states, it is only contribution on the basis of government to government as well as state investment in other states,” he said at a press conference after the leaders with community programme at Mukim Sungai Tuhok, yesterday.
Earlier, Ramlee told the people that the assistance and development projects involving the people and district are the efforts of the government and not an ‘individual’ effort.
He said that community leaders are only the middlemen to convey the government assistance for the people’s welfare.
“The developments of the people and district are efforts made by the government and people should understand that all this comes from the government.
“Therefore, I hope people will not be easily influenced by provocation and propaganda, and continue to support Umno and Barisan Nasional,” he said.
During his speech, Ramlee also announced that the Semporna sports complex will begin construction next year.
He said the sports complex was among the development brought about by the government to encourage the people, including the youth to get involved in sports.
He added that the various development projects implemented in Semporna proved that the government is committed in developing the district for the people.
During the programme, Ramlee handed over the contribution of auxiliary canopies to the villagers from seven villages in Mukim Sungai Tuhok.
The contribution is one of the corporate social responsibilities of Warisan Harta Sabah for the use of the villagers here.
