Local fruits galore at Sri Aman, Lachau

SRI AMAN: The Sri Aman market and the town of Lachau have become a haven for local fruits which are sold at very affordable prices.

Among the top fruits being sold in both places are durian, dabai and rambutan.

In Sri Aman, which is famous for its tidal bore festival, durians are priced between RM15 and RM25 for a bunch of four and between RM30 and RM35 for a bunch of five to six.

In Lachau, the ‘king of fruits’ fetches between RM30 and RM40 for a bunch of four to five fruits and RM15 to RM20 for a bundle of two to three fruits.

The dabai fruit is generally sold at RM20 to RM30 per kg in Sri Aman whereas in Lachau, it is sold at RM8 to RM20 per kg.

In Sri Aman, rambutan is sold at RM4 to RM5 a bunch while in Lachau each bundle is sold at between RM3 and RM10.
