BAU: The town of Bau is expected to come alive on New Year’s Eve following the staging of its first-ever New Year Countdown on the night of Dec 31.

This is to follow up on the success of the town’s inaugural Christmas Parade held here last Saturday.

The organising committee headed by Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Tasik Biru chairman Michael Siten held a meeting on Tuesday to finalise preparations.

Siten said those coming to the event would be entertained by music performances and they also stand a chance to win attractive prizes from lucky draws.

He also said Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep will be officiating at the even which would start from 8pm onwards.

“This is going to be first ever New Year Countdown to be organised for Bau. All are invited to come and join us for this historic event as we welcome the new year 2017,” he added.

To a question, he said the centre of the activities will be at the taxi parking lots in the middle of Bau town.

“This event is in line with our assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep’s vision and mission to make Bau more vibrant,” he said.

Last Saturday evening, the first ever Christmas Parade for Bau saw the participation of 2,000 people and brought life to Bau town which was usually quite at night.
