KENINGAU: Police arrested a taxi driver for alleged sexual misconduct on a 17-year-old girl at a hotel here on December 22.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jawila yesterday said the 33-year-old suspect was from a village in this district.
He said the police seized a Nokia mobile phone from the suspect.
“On December 24, a 41-year-old foreigner, who is the girl’s mother, lodged a police report at the police station here.
“She stated that a man had inserted his finger in her daughter’s private parts around 11pm on December 22,” he said.
Acting on information, police arrested the suspect on December 25 at the compound of the Crime Investigation Department.
“The suspect has been remanded for investigation under Section 377CA of the Penal Code,” he added.
