ALOR SETAR: Following the arrest of three people and the seizure of a revolver used in a fight in Kulim last Sunday, the police have recovered two pistols and arrested two other people in that town.
Kedah Police deputy chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said today the subsequent arrests and seizure of the pistols were made on Tuesday and yesterday under an operation dubbed ‘Ops Api Laras Kawaii.
Of the three people arrested on Sunday, the man among them – the two others being women – informed the police that he and another man had pistols hidden in several places, he said.
He said the police found one of the pistols, an Austrian-made semi-automatic Glock 3C, and 49 rounds of ammunition, in a raid on a double-storey house in Lorong Sekolah Convent.
The other, an imitation pistol with its holster, two rounds of ammunition, a pair of handcuffs in a black casing, and facemasks were recovered in the second raid on a house in Taman Selaseh, he added.
The guns were found buried in the compound of the houses, he said at a media conference here.
“Following the recovery of the firearms and the other items, two men aged 32 and 34 from Kulim were arrested. They are being held under remand for four days up to Saturday,” he said.
Abdul Jalil said an initial investigation revealed that the firearms were used for protection during the distribution of drugs.
Last Sunday, the police had arrested two women and a man in their early 30s and seized a revolver used during a fight at a cafe in Kulim. – Bernama
