BALANGAN, South Kalimantan: Regent Balangan H Ansharuddin went down to the paddy field to participate in tackling pests of agricultural crops, rat, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Together with Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, and Livestock (PTPHPP) Agency, military and police as well as Timbun Tulang villagers, Regent began to fumigate rat’s nest in the paddy field with a simple tool.

Mice fainted, even died, because of the fumigation. With these tools, it is hoped local efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency will go more smoothly without rat interference.

Regent H Ansharuddin expressed his appreciation to the PTPHPP, TNI and particularly for farmers who have managed to increase agricultural production in Balangan.

“Efforts have been made to make it. Hopefully Balangan can sustain the achievements of self-sufficiency which has been achieved,” he said.

In addition to the rat hunt, regent Balangan also has done early planting in the paddy field using a hand tractor.
