Tiong wants SMC councillors, staff to up efficiency level

SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) ultimate mission is to create and sustain a conducive urban environment for the well-being of all communities.

According to its chairman, Datuk Tiong Thai King, they need to draw on their intelligence and creativity and most importantly for the team to raise their efficiency in order to meet new challenges and seize new opportunities.

He was speaking at the ‘SMC Annual Appreciation Dinner 2016’ held at RH Hotel on Friday.

“In carrying out the council’s duties and obligations, we are indeed proud to have dedicated and loyal councillors and staff whom I consider as the council’s  most valuable asset.

“This year SMC also welcomes a new batch of councillors whom in my opinion have tried their very best to serve their communities. So, please keep up the good work in the coming new year,” he added.

Tiong also expressed his big thank you and appreciation to all the heads of government departments in particular those based in Sibu Division for rendering their full cooperation and support in making Sibu into a clean, healthy and orderly town.

“I also would like to express my appreciation and big thank you to the Ministry of Local Government under Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and its permanent secretary Bakrie Zaini for giving us invaluable guidance and advice.

“We look forward to continued teamwork in the coming years ahead,” he added.

Tiong who is Dudong assemblyman also expressed his appreciation and big thank you to all the media for the excellent coverages throughout the years.

SMC deputy chairperson Rogayah Jemain, Kapitan Connie Loh, heads of government departments, outgoing SMC acting secretary Morshidi Frederick and SMC councillors were also present.
