S Kalimantan inflation 0.83 Percent in December

BANJARBARU: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted 0.83 percent inflation in December 2016 in South Kalimantan, which is a combination of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Head of provincial BPS Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said the inflation is recorded 0.82 percent in Banjarmasin, while in Tanjung it reached 1.02 percent.

“The cumulative inflation rate in Banjarmasin in December 2016 to the month of December 2015 amounted to 3.68 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung at 2.18 percent,” she said.

Commodities which experienced price increases to share the highest inflation in Banjarmasin include eggs, air transport, rice and cellular phone credit.

Meanwhile, commodity prices decline with the highest share of deflation include gold jewelry, wet shrimp, climbing perch (papuyu fish), melon, and crackers.

He said, from seven expenditure groups, six experienced an increase in the price index, namely foodstuffs at 2.87 percent, food, beverages, and tobacco 0.15 percent.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.21 percent, health by 0.36 percent, and education, recreation and sport 0.53 percent.

“The group of transportation, communications and sports by 1.03 percent, and one group has decreased the price index was clothing group by 0.62 percent,” she said.

Meanwhile, in Tanjung commodities shared the highest inflation were chicken meat, beans, chili, sweet corn, and eggs.

“Commodities experienced a decrease with the highest share of deflation were rice, spinach, apple, greens mustard and kale,” he said.

The Statistics office also noted the consumers price index in 82 cities recorded 78 cities experienced inflation and four other with deflation. The highest inflation was in Lhokseumawe at 2.25 percent.
