ATM burglars nabbed by police

RANTAU, South Kalimantan: A joint team police nabbed across the districts ATM burglars when dining at Jelita Hotel near Syamsudin Noor Airport, Sunday (8/1) at around 10:00 pm, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Tapin police chief AKBP Zulkifli Ismail through Criminal Investigation Chief AKP Susilo in Rantau on Monday said the joint team of South Kalimantan regional police, Tapin police, Banjarbaru, and Banjar, managed to secure a gang of ATM burglary that occurred in the jurisdiction of Tapin.

According to Susilo, the team nabbed two suspects on behalf of Joni Lie (44), from Bekasi, and Rico Reza (30), a resident from Lampung.

“Both players managed to steal the money at BRI ATM machines in two places, namely in East Rantau and Datu Sanggul Hospital,” he said.

The perpetrator’s modusoperandi by way of prop ATM machine using a screwdriver when the money out, so that transaction was deemed void by the machine and savings nominal in the account of the suspect was not reduced.

“Those action done around September and October, but the BRI has just realized after the final audit last year,” added AKP Susilo.

Perpetrators acted not only in the Tapin, but in several other places in South Kalimantan. That’s why Joni Lie secured at the Banjarbaru police, while Rico immediately secured in Tapin.
