SIBU: DAP’s state assemblywoman for Bukit Assek Irene Chang says she and her five children would pay their last respects to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem in Kuching.

Speaking to The Borneo Post, Chang, who is also DAP’s vice-chairperson of Sibu Branch and the opposition’s state director of Women’s Affairs Bureau, said she had discussed the matter with her children.

When her husband Wong Ho Leng who was the state DAP chairman and Bukit Assek assemblyman passed away in 2014, Adenan and his team of Barisan Nasional (BN)leaders paid their last respects to him in Sibu.

Chang said: “I have been with Adenan in the august House after I was elected. I must say he was a good leader. He had done his best for the people. His passing is a sad thing; I share the sadness with the people.”

Irene said the State DAP had arranged to attend the funeral of Adenan and pay him the last respects.

“But, on my part, I shall also arrange with my children.”

When Ho Leng was undergoing cancer treatment, the state government under Adenan granted an allocation of RM1 million for his medical expenses.
