SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii described the untimely demise of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem last Wednesday as a big loss to the country, state, government and people.

Huang said during his three years as chief minister, Adenan had implemented many policies to improve the welfare of Sarawakians, besides development projects in rural and urban areas.

Adenan had emphasised rural transformation programmes (RTPs) to enable rural areas to catch up in infrastructure and facilities, but not at the expense of urban development.

Hence, he had placed the welfare of all Sarawakians on the same level, irrespective of race and religion.

“Adenan will be remembered by Sarawakians for a long time as a  great leader who loved Sarawak and is proud to be a Sarawakian. He gave his everything to prosper the state and ensure the development cake is fairly shared among the people,” Huang said.

Adenan would be remembered as a leader who walked the talk, he said, citing the example of  the former’s pledge to be a chief minister for all Sarawakians.

Huang quoted Adenan’s words: “I love Sarawak and hope all Sarawakians love Sarawak as I do.”
