SIBU: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) seized 33 illegal logs of the Terap and Benuang timber species during a raid at Jalan Stabau, Salim here on Monday.

Acting on information received from the police, a SFC team comprising staff from One-Stop Compliance Centre (OSCC) Mapai and Sibu Regional Office raided the location, a statement from SFC said.

“The logs had been felled from an adjacent site and left at the road side awaiting transportation out of the area. The logs were detained upon confirmation that no licence to extract timber has been issued for the area,” added the statement.

A report has been lodged at the Sibu Jaya Police Station on Tuesday and the case handed over to the relevant authority for further investigation and disposal.
