KUCHING: Sarawak Super League head coach David Usop appears clear about who will fill up the two vacant slots of a striker and defender in the team after the friendly match with Kuching team at Stadium Negeri on Friday.

Their names will only be announced next week after they passed the fitness test and have reached an agreement with Football Association of Sarawak (FAS).

The hopefuls for the defender position who had performed well in the friendly are Dirkir Kohn Glay of Liberia, Demerson and Denilo from Brazil.

Croatian Mateo Roskam is almost assured of the striker slot after banging in two goals in the match which was won 4-1 by the Sarawak team.

Others in the running for the slot are Bruno of Brazil and Eddie Froday from Liberia.

Mateo is an ex-Tampines Rovers player who has played in the Singapore League and scored nine goals for Sime Darby FC in 2014.

“It is for sure that the names of the two selected players will be known next week as they need to undergo the fitness test on Monday,” said David.

According to him, the friendly against Kuching was the last of the warm-up matches for the Sarawak team before the new Super League season kicks off on Jan 21.
