KUCHING: The Che Hui Khor Moral Uplifting Society Kuching and Samarahan Divisions distributed food items and angpow to 240 needy people at its premises in Stutong here yesterday.

This activity was lauded by former Stampin MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng who was one of the invited guests at the event.

“I am happy to note that Che Hui Khor is giving out alms to the needy regardless of their race and religion in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year. This is in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to create a loving and caring society.”

Yong added that since its establishment, besides promoting good moral values, the society has been actively carrying out various welfare and charitable activities to fulfil its noble objectives of bringing love and care to those in need.

He hoped that by organising more of such events, the public, especially the young would participate in charity activities.

When asked to comment about newly appointed Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, he declined to comment as he is no longer in the political field.

Among those present were Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi, Federation of Kuching-Samarahan-Serian Division Chinese Associations Dato Richard Wee and president Chai Tze Khim.
