KUCHING: Sarawak Petroleum Products Agents Association (SPPAA) has advised Shell fuel patrons to be patient while waiting for Shell Malaysia to remedy a technical glitch affecting fuel pumps at petrol stations nationwide.

Its state president Edwin Banta is confident that members that the glitch will be remedied promptly.

“Our newly installed Global System Solution (GSS) will be reinstated very soon. It is actually a very efficient system for all parties, but is not yet stable,” he said when contacted today.

He was responding to a statement issued by Shell Malaysia on the matter.

Early today, Shell Malaysia was alerted of technical issues at retail station systems around the country.

“We confirm that we are experiencing technical issues with our site system at Shell stations in Malaysia at the moment. We are currently working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” a statement from Shell read.

According to a customer here, the error affects the pumps itself, making it difficult for some customers to fuel up at Shell stations.

Consumer Voice of Sarawak president Michael Tiong when contacted said thus far he has not received any complaints from consumers or any feedback from association members as at press time.

Tiong believes that only those who use credit cards to make payment before fueling up are affected by the technical glitch.

Those who pay cash might not be affected, he added.
