Duo arrested for having imitation firearms

PENAMPANG: Two men, aged 24 and 27, were arrested after they were found in possession of imitation firearms.

Sabah Criminal Investigation Department Chief Datuk Salehuddin Abdul Rahman said that police were patrolling Tuaran town when they spotted a suspiscious looking black Audi car.

Upon inspection, they found and seized two pistols, three magazines, a packet containing ball bearings, and arrested a 27-year-old man.

Salehuddin said that following investigation, police checked on a house in Tamparuli where they found a rifle sniper and detained another man, aged 24.

With the directions given by the suspects, another raid was made on a house at Kampung Pendamai Tuaran where another pistol and six bullets were found.

“The case is being investigated under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960 which carries a maximum jail term of up to a year and a maximum fine of RM5,000 or both,” he said at a press conference held at the Penampang police headquarters.
