KUALA LUMPUR:  The Malaysian Armed Forces Cyber Defence Operations Centre (ATM CDOC) will be fully operational in September.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said ATM CDOC will monitor cyber threats to the national defence system.

“The ATM CDOC focus is to enhance the cyber defence system against ICT infra system, enhance cyber security auditing and digital forensics expertise,” he told a press conference after launching the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and ATM cyber security awareness campaign here, yesterday.

ATM CDOC is controlled by Defence Intelligence staff with high expertise to counter cyber threats and attempts to sabotage the national defence system.

He said the government has enhanced cyber security control of Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) which covers 10 critical sectors.

“The sectors include health, banking and finance, water, energy, information and communications, transport, defence and security.” Hishammuddin said rapid development of ICT have bought many benefits to the country but can threaten intelligence work and confidential information.

Also present at the campaign were MOD secretary-general, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, Defence Forces chief, Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, Navy chief, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin and Air Force chief, Gen Datuk Seri Affandi Buang. — Bernama
